In our perfect agile scrum world, a retrospective is a time for a team to reflect on how they
are doing and seek opportunities to improve. However, sometimes a retrospective becomes
a perfunctory meeting that the team endures to close out the sprint. Worse, a retrospective
can quickly degenerate to a state of blame and poor excuses. If this feels familiar to you
and your team, then join me as we relive the nightmare of a lack luster retrospective. Let’s
take your retrospective from boring and laborious to engaging, valuable, and [dare I say]
fun. Transform your team through the challenge and power of collaborative and interactive
problem solving. No longer will you simply traverse through the motions of your
retrospective, we will explore techniques to properly engage your team toward the spirit of
Kaizen.
In this session we will discuss:

Rita Emmons has over 15 years of experience, has worked on a myriad of projects as a Business Analyst and Quality Analyst in a broad range of industries including aviation, insurance, healthcare, and retail. Transitioning into a Scrum Master role invigorated her passion for empowering teams to successfully deliver quality software. As a trainer for Cardinal Solutions, Rita has the opportunity to work with Analysts in a variety of industries to bridge the gap between traditional and Agile roles and skill sets. Her commitment to lean agile principles has proven valuable in her role as an Lean Agile Transformation Coach, working with large organizations to realize the benefits and value of agility at scale. When Rita’s not working, Rita Emmons is a Board Member on Agile Cincinnati, Cincinnati’s regional Agile user group. She was on the team of organizers that planned and executed the inaugural AgileCincy2016 Conference. As a Junior Achievement Instructor, Rita shares her enthusiasm and life experience with children, teaching them the value in setting goals and shooting for the stars!
