March Meeting: Product Managers, Product Owners, BAs, and Stakeholders! Oh, My!

When: March 9, 2017  (Second Thursday) Networking: 5:30 - 6:00 pm Program: 6:00 - 7:30 pm.

NOTICE: In March we are meeting in our new PERMANENT location: 5181 Natorp Blvd, Mason, OH 45040

The Scrum Framework tells us that a Product Owner is the sole person responsible for a litany of responsibilities from setting the product vision and communicating the product roadmap, prioritizing the backlog and writing user stories, acceptance criteria, reviewing and approving stories that are completed to collaborating with and understanding the needs of all of your stakeholders, both external and internal, as well as being available around the clock for the scrum team.  This model might work for SaaS companies where the organization is product-focused and a true Product Management structure is in place.  But what about the rest of us?  Those of us building internal systems?  Commercial Products that don’t have easy access to the end-users? Infrastructure teams?  In this talk, Marcy will explain the difference between “Big Product Owner” and “Small Product Owner” and tell you how to best leverage the power of BAs, POs, internal Stakeholders and customers to achieve a product vision, prioritized backlog, clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and drive the best value of the product your scrum team is building.

Marcy Elhamidi has been working in IT in both the Healthcare and Marketing SaaS space for the better part of the last 15+ years.  Having started her career as a BA in the waterfall days, she also has experience as Product Owner, Product Manager, Project Manager, Program Manager, Scrum Master and Agile Coach.  She now specializes in helping to coach agile teams through the “tough stuff” like transitioning from waterfall requirements gathering to agile user stories, minding the QA crunch, handling interrupt driven work, and empowering product owners.  Marcy has given presentations on these topics across the Midwest and now provides agile training and coaching through her company, The Agile Coach, LLC. Marcy utilizes her hands on experiences at companies in the healthcare and marketing spaces such as Eli Lilly, United Healthcare, CNO, The State of Indiana, Methodist and St Vincent Hospitals, the Healthcare Group, Anthem, ExactTarget,, Teradata, and Aprimo to advise her clients on agile best practices.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for AgileIndy in Indianapolis and has helped organize the AgileIndy conference for two of the last five years.  Linked in:
